Description
Fatawa Qazi Khan is an extremely important book on Hanafi jurisprudence. It was written approximately 900 years ago by Imam Ahl-e-Sunnat Al-Hazrat, and he mentioned this book and its author in his Fatawa Razaviya nearly 1,600 times, expressing his confidence in it. This book is the source of books like Fatawi Alamgiri as well as the source of numerous Fiqh books.
Alhamdulillah, for the first time, an Urdu translation of this book is being published after six years of continuous effort by the renowned translator Sheikh al-Hadith Mufti Muhammad Siddiq Hazarvi. There are also multiple reviews by scholars, including Sahar Fehrist, Mufti Azam Pakistan Mufti Manib al-Rahman Sahib, Allama Abdul Razzaq Bhutrawi, Dr. Noor Ahmed Shahtaz, and Dr. Tahir Raza Bukhari, who are esteemed friends of knowledge. Undoubtedly, the presence of this book in libraries, etc., is extremely beneficial and necessary for scholars, students, and the general public.
Therefore, I request scholars, intellectuals, and those with the means and wealth to not only purchase this book for themselves but also distribute it as a gift and spread it widely.
Importance of Fatawa Qazi Khan:
Esteemed scholars themselves benefit from this collection of fatawa. That is, they consider it necessary to refer to Hazrat Qazi Khan even in complex and contemporary issues. Keeping this need in mind and acknowledging the remarkable services of the great scholars, it was deemed necessary to work on it.
Regarding Fatawa Qazi Khan, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan has written marginal notes and annotations in Arabic at around 365 places. These annotations, which were inaccessible due to lack of publication, are now available adorned with the ornamentation of printing. The translation of these annotations, called “Taliqat-i-Razaviyya,” has also been included in the translator’s Fatawa Qazi Khan. The Arabic annotations found in Fatawa Qazi Khan are also present in “Makhtut” and “Fatawa Razaviyya.” Additionally, there are other explanations and annotations specific to Fatawa Qazi Khan in Urdu that can be referred to at various places in Fatawa Razaviyya.
The style of Fatawa Qazi Khan:
Fatawa Qazi Khan is not like contemporary books of Fatawa where issues are derived from the Quran and Hadith using evidence. Instead, it is a book consisting of old-style issues. It mentions the differences of opinion among jurists and then presents its own position at the end, giving preference to Hanafi evidence and acknowledging the differences between Hanafi imams with goodwill.
Imam Shami has adopted the stance of Imam Qazi Khan at 264 places in his “Fatawa Shami.” Similarly, “Fatawa Alamgiri” has issued fatwas based on Imam Qazi Khan’s opinion at various places. Likewise, in his “Fatawa Razaviyya,” the great contemporary scholar Mufti Ahmad Raza Khan considered Qazi Khan’s opinion and fatwa valid in 1,570 fatwas. Therefore, Imam Qazi’s stance has been adopted in numerous issues.
